South Arts Festival (formerly Art In The South) is happening in 3 weeks on April 22, 2018 at The Filinvest Tent in Alabang, and everything is set to provide a bigger and better experience for everyone – the exhibitors, the artists, the art collectors & the art enthusiasts.
The biggest improvement is that we will be INSIDE THE FILINVEST TENT. Last year, the scorching heat and a stormy downpour made it difficult to battle the elements. This year, we will have the comfort of a roof and very cool air-conditioning to battle the summer heat and any rains that may come.
We have over 70 booths represented by galleries, art groups, schools & individual artists, providing the best art works. While other art events bring an affordable price tag to their art works, sometimes it makes the quality of art works suffer since most exhibitors just bring their “cheap” art. With no price ceiling at South Arts Festival, you can expect to see unique works that will certainly captivate any audience. Last year, the works of masters like impressionist Roger San Miguel and surrealist Raul Lebajo were on display and on sale at the artist’s price. It may be a tad more expensive than what is deemed affordable, but it is still much more affordable than the gallery price. What’s even more endearing for the artists is that 100% of the sales goes to the exhibitors. The organizers of South Arts Festival do not take any percentage or commission, providing artists the opportunity to be fully rewarded with what they worked hard for.
Apart from the main event on April 22, there will also be a special art exhibit that will be on display at Crimson Hotel from April 8 to 22. Renowned artists will be displaying prize works at the lobby of Crimson Hotel throughout the entire month as part of South Arts Festival.
The Design Center of The Philippines (DCP) has also partnered with South Arts Festival and made our event as part of their activities for Design Week Philippines 2018. The activities of Design Week Philippines from April 14 to 22 will culminate with South Arts Festival, making it one of the more important art & design events of their calendar.
There will easily be over 1,000 amazing works of art. Some of the renowned artists you can watch out for include big names like Roger San Miguel , Michelline Syjuco, Beatrix Syjuco, Paulina Luz-Sotto, Nelson Castillo, Fitz Herrera, Norlie Meimban, Sam Penaso and so much more.
But what you should really watch out for are the first-time exhibitors. The art department of Beacon Academy, for example, will be showcasing the works of their students and give them a chance to expose their art to thousands of art enthusiasts. The same opportunity will be shared by the art students of Sining Tanglaw-Calatagan from the Enrique Zobel Foundation. You’ll never know if a future Juan Luna will be among them.
For those who want to try their hand at art, Art Nebula PH will be hosting art workshops for free.
South Arts Festival would like to thank its sponsors – The Muntinlupa City Cultural & Tourism Development Office (CTDO), Art+ Magazine, Design Center of the Philippines (DCP), Cityneon, Community Connect, Inside Manila, Don Papa Rum, Crimson Hotel, Filinvest Tent and Filinvest City.
